Tier III Championship Preview: #17 Valley Torah vs. #18 Fuchs Mizrachi

Championship Monday is here, and if the Tier IIi semifinals were any indication, we’re in for a wild one. #17 Valley Torah’s comeback against #20 Maimonides was legendary—down 16 in the fourth quarter, left for dead, and somehow, they stormed back to win 67-66.

Meir Dan has been the heart and soul of this squad, leading the charge that included yesterday’s back-to-back threes to cap the rally. If he carries that same fire as his brother Johnny did for the Wolfpack a few years ago, Valley Torah is a team of destiny.

Yet, while that kind of win could spark momentum, it could also expose a team's inconsistent play throughout the tournament.

Conversely, #18 Fuchs Mizrachi took down a familiar opponent in Farber in a more controlled effort. Unlike Valley Torah, there were no late-game heroics—they just stuck to their game plan and executed when it mattered.

Coach Lior Schwartzberg’s group has shown flashes of the dynastic culture it used to have but hasn’t been able to sustain it for four quarters. If they start slow again, Fuchs will punish them. Expect Moshe Jacobs to be the difference-maker, leading all scorers with 20+ points and knocking down at least four threes. Fuchs has been more composed, disciplined, and consistent—and in a game like this, that’s what wins championships. Still, something about these wolfpacks feels different. Teams that survive the impossible start to believe they’re unstoppable. It’s why this matchup is so intriguing.

You won’t want to miss it, as we begin the first of three Sarachek championship games at 11:00 a.m.
