After a somewhat tight first half, (5) Shalhevet’s offense took control of the game pushing far past the (12) Ida Crown Aces. A strong all-around showing, with great ball movement and all-around shooting, handed the Firehawks a 67-41 victory.
Shalhevet held a narrow lead in the first quarter but was able to extend that a bit in the second quarter. However, in the third quarter, Shalhevet came out on fire and essentially ended the game right there as Ida Crown was never able to get back in reach of the lead again.
In the very tight first quarter, both teams’ defenses were highlighted. However, in the last minute, Shalhevet took control and took an eight-point lead capped off by a buzzer-beater.
Shalhevet maintained its lead in the second quarter, however, Ida Crown stayed in the game. For much of the half, it looked as though Ida Crown might take the lead, but in the last few minutes, Shalhevet stemmed that momentum through increased ball movement to close out the half with a nine-point lead.
In the third quarter, Shalhevet lifted themselves ahead of Ida Crown allowing only four points and taking a 24 point lead. Ida Crown did not look present for much of the quarter and was not able to put a stop to Shalhevet’s fierce offense.
Shalhevet continued to dominate for the remainder of play and Ida Crown was unable to come back. Ida Crown suffered from a less-than-optimal second half as they were unable to score that many points. Shalhevet will hope to continue their domination on the court, but it only gets harder from here.
Up next, Shalhevet will play (4) DRS in the Max Stern Athletic Center at 12:30 PM on Friday. Ida Crown will face (21) Beren in a Tier II qualifier at TABC at 1:30 PM on Friday.
