Sarachek Tier I Quarterfinal Preview: #2 Shalhevet Vs #10 MDY

Writer: Marvin AzrakMarvin Azrak

It's win-or-go-home time at Sarachek, and this Elite Eight Tier I showdown has everything you could ask for. There are two historical programs, a Jewish coaching chess match for the ages and star power all over the court.

On one side, you have the battle-tested Shalhevet Firehawks, the No. 2 seed, a team with championship aspirations but a history of falling short. They barely survived their opening game against 15-seed Katz, a scare that could either rattle them or fuel their fire. Led by scoring machine Aidan Bitran and dominant big man Sam Jacobson, they have the size, the talent, and the experience to impose their scoring abilities at will.

Conversely, the tenth-ranked Magen David Warriors are fresh off two grueling wins in two days. They've conquered two Sephardi rivals (7) North Shore and (10) Flatbush. Their leader, Joshua Chabbott, is as fierce a competitor as you'll find. With sharpshooter Jack Dweck and Valedictorian defensive stalwart Phil Sherr, MDY will implement their aggressive identity and cohesive pedigree on the Firehawks' wings.

There's also the battle on the sidelines, as Ryan Coleman, the mastermind behind Shalhevet's run, coaches against the fiery and fearless Ike "Spike" Dweck, a man who knows how to get the most out of his players when the lights shine the brightest.

It's Sarachek at its best. A trip to the Final Four is on the line. The Firehawks want to dominate inside. The Warriors want to run and gun. Something has to give when these teams meet on Friday at 1:30 PM.

Buckle up and be ready for a war taking you into Sarachek Shabbat.
