Oh, Canada — are you ready to make some noise at Sarachek?
The #12 Hebrew Academy of Montreal Heat are finally getting their shot at the big stage. The Great White North enters hotter than a fresh plate of poutine. Last year they turned heads in Tier II, but now they’re ready to prove they belong with the best. People left Sarachek 2024 saying these boys would be dangerous in 2025. Now, it’s time for them to prove how lethal they truly are. The Heat are on a heater, going 11-1 in Montreal’s top league en route to the school's , first-ever RSEG D1 title on Tuesday. That triumph was preceded by drubbing JV Yeshiva League champions Flatbush in the Montreal tournament this past winter.
Montreal brings a fast, aggressive, and youthful squad. While they lack seniors, they make up for it in speed. Yaakov Ohayon, a 6’3” bruiser down low, gives them a painter for their house. Meanwhile, Simon Alloul, a 10th-grade phenom averaging 20+ points per game, is poised to show why he’s one of the elite Jewish basketball guards at his age. If you need a highlight, Isaac Cons can throw down a dunk or two. The team will have to adjust from their usual 24-second shot clock to Sarachek’s 35 seconds, but expect them to push the pace and keep defenses on their heels.

On the other side, the #5 SAR Sting are back to buzzing in Sarachek with a chip on their shoulder after missing the party last year. A 10-4 season in the MYSHAL, a playoff win over Ramaz, and a tough loss to eventual champions DRS means they’ve battled against top competition.
They’re led by the do-it-all guard Sam Weiss, their primary ball handler, a sharpshooter, and top defender. Ari Halpert is their energizer bunny—leading the team in rebounds and steals, always a threat in transition. Don’t underestimate Matteas Ellis, an elite sharpshooter who can change a game quickly.
Two teams. Two different styles. One spot in Tier I on the line. Will Montreal’s finest breakthrough for a 12-5 upset, Or will SAR’s experience carry the day? Get ready because this 4:00PM showdown won’t leave you disappointed.
