Preview, Tier II Qualifier: #9 Katz vs #24 Mesivta Philadelphia

Following a heartbreaking one point loss to the #8 seed Flatbush Falcons, the #9 seed Katz Yeshiva Storm look to bounce back in Friday’s Tier II Qualifier. Thursday’s close game was dramatic all the way through the last play, which was an attempted game winner by the Storm. The Storm look to overpower their upcoming opponents with their taller lineup, as their roster has eight players who are at least six feet tall, and their defensive pressure. The Storm are looking to bring a Tier II Championship back to Florida and must first face Mesivta Philadelphia.

The #24 seed Mesivta of Greater Philadelphia Mustangs are making their second Sarachek tournament appearance. They are a team with a lot of individual talent, and are still looking for ways to mesh all of them together. Guard Ephraim Shmidman is the rock of this team, and he is excellent in transition. Max Miller is a great shooter and hopes to help lead the Mustangs if he gets some good looks in Friday’s game. Despite being the lowest seed in the tournament, Mesivta is still looking to shock the world, and can do so with a statement victory over the much higher-ranked Storm.

This exciting Tier II Qualifier tips off on Friday at 10:30am at the TABC gym.
