On Friday at 12 PM, the (6) Frisch Cougars will face off against the (22) SCY High Hawks for a Tier II qualifier game in the TABC gym. While Frisch has been ranked as the better team and does appear to have the advantage, we have yet to see SCY High in the Sarachek tournament this year, so there are some unknowns.
Although Frisch lost in an upset to Yavneh on Thursday in a Tier I qualifier, the Cougars still put up a fight, particularly later in the game. Their offense was powered by senior forward Ben Haber who put up a double-double with 25 points and 10 rebounds. Haber also had significant help from junior guard, Alexander Zakheim, who put up 20 points, four rebounds, and three assists. Frisch will look to at least replicate those offensive numbers while executing a stronger defensive game as well. Players like Zakheim and Haber who are 6”1 and 6”3, respectively, need to use their size advantage and step up on defense, getting more rebounds, blocks, and steals in this matchup against SCY High.
Seeded at #22, SCY High has yet to play a Sarachek game in 2022. They have a much smaller roster than many of the other teams and have a bit of a height disadvantage against Frisch. Gideon Peter and Yishai Shapiro, SCY High’s only two players over six feet, will need to step up against the Cougars and leave it all out on the court.
This exciting Tier II qualifier will tip off from the TABC gym at 12 PM.
