The first game at TABC of this tournament tips off bright and early Friday morning at 9:00am for what should be a very exciting Tier II Qualifier.
The #14 seed Fuchs Mizrachi Mayhem put up a good fight against the #3 seed TABC on the first day of the tournament, ultimately losing 58-67. Fuchs was led by a balanced scoring attack: Mayhem star Ephraim Blau finished the game with 16 points, sharpshooter Netanel Jacobs dropped 18 points, including four three pointers, forward Ari Jacoby contributed twelve points, and Steven Brenis had eight points. The Mayhem look to make a run to win the Tier II Championship.
The Maimonides M-Cats are back for their 19th tournament appearance, however, they are not used to seeing the low #19 seed next to their team. Maimo has been solid and finished 8-8 in the regular season this past year. They are led by big-man Josh Saks, who averages about 16 points and 10 rebounds per game, as well as guard Eitan Bessler, who is a lockdown defender. Maimo is a young team consisting of three sophomores who play a crucial role for the team: speedy point guard and floor general Raanan Gewurz, knock-down shooter Oren Spira, and Nathan Weinstock, who will look to throw down some dunks this tournament, and they look to return to Sarachek as a top-seeded threat in future seasons. The M-Cats look to prove their low seed wrong with a statement win over a very solid Fuchs team, and ultimately a Tier II Championship victory.
This thrilling Tier II Qualifier will tip off from the TABC gym at 9:00am. Be sure to follow MacsLive.com, as well as MacsLive on Twitter and Instagram, for all Sarachek 2022 coverage.
