For the right to continue in the Tier I tournament, #6 SAR took on #11 Valley Torah at primetime (7:15 pm).
Valley came out of the gate hot with a 9-2 lead, but SAR crawled back at the end of the quarter to make the score 9-8. Valley pulled away in the second quarter to make the score 18-11 with less than three minutes to go. Once again the Sting were able to come back with a 7-3 run. The halftime score was 21-18.
The scoring took off in the third quarter. Both teams exchanged baskets; the final quarter started tied up at 35.
The final quarter was a nail-biter until the last minute. Judah Oppenheimer proved why he is one of the best players in this tournament as he carried the Sting in the final eight minutes. Valley tied the game with a three-point shot by Benji Dan from a few feet behind the three point arc with only four seconds to go. Leo Heller hit a game-winning buzzer-beating three to seal it for SAR. The final score was 52-49 in what may have been the most thrilling game of the day.
SAR will advance in the Tier I tournament as Valley leaves the Tier in heartbreak.
