Gameday Preview: #2 Magen David vs. #7 Maimonides

Updated: Sep 2, 2019

In what is sure to prove to be an exciting Tier I quarterfinal matchup, the 7th seeded Maimonides (Brookline, MA) M-Cats will be taking on the 2nd seeded Magen David Yeshiva (Brooklyn, NY) Warriors.

After winning a tightly fought contest against Fasman Yeshiva, Maimo looks to continue their strong play against a tough and talented Magen David team. To be successful, Maimo is going to have stick with their balanced attack, with scoring duties spread throughout the team among the likes of senior Aaron Weinstock, and juniors Judah Kosowsky and Eytan Pomper and figure out some way to contain the explosive play of Magen David, specifically that of all-star junior guard Albert Nsiri.

Magen David, meanwhile, is coming fresh off a bye and is hungry for victory. This is the same team that won the MYHSAL JV championships two years ago and three tournaments this season. However, Magen David lost in the semifinals of last year's Sarachek tournament to the Ryan Turell-led Valley Torah Wolfpack, and more recently, lost in this years MYHSAL Championship in an absolute nail-biter. They are hungry to show that those two games were flukes. Led by an electric trio of Nsiri and Seniors Michael Natkin and Ray Jajati, the key to success for this team is to execute their fast-paced transition offense, and space themselves defensively to cover all the weapons Maimo offers.

This looks to be a good one folks. Be sure to tune in at 11:30 am eastern time to MacsLive, the official broadcast network of Yeshiva Sports and exclusive home of the Red Sarachek Tournament, to catch all the exciting action.
