In the second of the Tier II Semifinal matchups, #10 Fasman Yeshiva will square off against #11 Valley Torah Wolfpack in what will surely be one of the more exciting matchups of Sarachek Sunday. Both teams lost on Thursday in Tier I Qualifiers (Fasman to Maimo and Valley Torah to SAR) and won on Friday in Tier II Qualifiers (Fasman over Katz and Valley Torah over Ida Crown).
Now that the Yeshiva has secured their first ever Sarachek victory, they are looking for more. Fasman is led by Senior SF Doni Miretzky, who averaged 16 ppg in the regular season and has been the Yeshiva’s best player in Sarachek. Valley Torah is led by Senior PG Liorel Bitton, big man Akiva Kamornick, and Freshman sharpshooter Uzi Mermelstein.
One of the most decisive factors of this game will be the Wolfpack’s ability to break Fasman’s consistent press. Against SAR, Bitton fouled out with 6 minutes to go, and the Valley Torah offense fell apart without him on the court; if Bitton gets into foul trouble early, Fasman’s trap game may be too much for Valley Torah.
The winner of this game will move on to the Tier II Championship tomorrow against the winner of Posnack vs. MTA. Be sure to tune in to that game, and all other games, on MacsLive.com, your official home for Sarachek 2019.
