In the final matchup of Sarachek Friday, the Valley Torah Wolfpack beat the Katz Yeshiva storm to advance to the Tier I semifinals on Sunday. The game started with Valley Torah jumping out to a 8-0 lead in large part to their transition offense. Johny Dan was a force in the first half scoring 26 points. Dan was able to score both inside the paint as well as from the three. Asher Rosen kept Katz in the game with 13 points including a couple threes. Valley Torah took a 37-30 lead into the half.
In the second half, the Valley Torah Wolfpack blew the game open, extending the lead to 53-32 after the first four minutes in the 3rd quarter. Johny Dan and Noam Mayouhas put on a show for the fans at the Max Stern Athletic Center. Katz was able to hang around, but could never make the run that would allow them to get back into the game. Noam Mayouhas finished with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists, narrowly missing out on a triple double. Johny Dan matched that with a 42 point, 13 rebound performance. The Wolfpack got the win 74-53.
The Wolfpack will advance to the Tier I Semifinals on Sunday against the YULA Panthers. The Katz Yeshiva Storm will head into the Tier I Consolation Bracket.
