In the first Tier II semifinal matchup of the day, the DRS Wildcats defeated the shorthanded Berman Cougars 47-39.
In the first quarter, DRS put on a defensive clinic, not allowing the Cougars to get anything going offensively and holding them to just 2 points. The action picked up in the second, as both teams were able to find their groove and start putting the ball through the basket at a more consistent rate. DRS would take an 8 point lead into halftime. After the break, Berman woke up and was more competitive as they gathered some momentum and cut the deficit to 3 by the end of the third quarter. The Wildcats took their blows, but they maintained the lead and hung on for an 8 point victory.
Senior Isaac Solomon led the Wildcats with 14 points and Aiden Buchbunder added 13. Itai Rozmaryn led all Berman scorers with 14 points on the day.
With the win, DRS moves on to the Tier II Championship to face Fuchs Mizrachi on Monday afternoon at 12:30 PM at the Max Stern Athletic Center, while Berman will face TABC in the Tier II third place game on Monday morning at 11:30 AM also at the Max Stern Athletic Center.
