Powered by an exceptional #34 Eyal Kinderlehrer, the #4 TABC held off #5 SAR, 47-35, taking down their opponents from across the George Washington Bridge.
Exceptional defense held the SAR offense to a much cooler morning than their game prior. While they put up 73 in their Tier I qualifier against #12 Montreal, with 3 players over 15 points, they opened up on Friday morning with only 3 in the first quarter. TABC had put up 12, and at one point led 18-5 in the second frame before entering halftime up 12.
SAR had no answer for Eyal Kinderlehrer. While #0 Ari Halpert put up an impressive 18 points and 8 boards for the Sting, Kinderleher’s day ended with 30 points—nearly equal to SAR’s entire team—and the 6’3” senior also grabbed a ludicrous 25 boards. The two-time YLP all-star notches another all-star game only one year after taking down Shalhevet in an instant classic Sarachek match.'

The Sting’s best shooters were cooled during this Friday morning match. As a team, only a drop more than a quarter of their shots fell, and a 2/12 day from three-point-land wasn’t the sort of efficiency the Riverdale team wanted to see. TABC struggled from deep, too: not a single one of their fifteen attempts went in. SAR’s shooting issues were in addition to getting wildly outrebounded: SAR grabbed 20 boards overall, while the Storm nabbed 44.
SAR kept themselves in the game, though. With four and a half minutes to go, this was just a six point ball-game, 28-34. It was in those few minutes that TABC pulled out a 13-7 run to end up on top.
TABC will play #8 Hillel after their upset win over #1 YULA, while SAR will look for success in the consolation bracket.
