#13 Fasman Bounces Back with Strong Second Half to Defeat #19 Farber, 65-52 and advance to the Tier II quarterfinals

In a fast-paced, high-energy Tier II Qualifier matchup, Fasman used aggressive defense and their size advantage to defeat Farber, securing a 65-52 victory. Led by Adir Amster’s 23 points and a crucial second-half surge, Fasman capitalized on defensive pressure to create offense and pull away late, advancing to the Tier II Quarterfinals.

The game began with both teams trading baskets, unable to establish a clear momentum. Fasman found early success attacking the paint, while Farber countered with transition points and three-pointers.

Fasman’s full-court press caused early problems for Farber, forcing turnovers. Despite this, Farber remained composed, responding with timely buckets every time Fasman appeared ready to stretch the lead. At halftime, Fasman held a slim 27-24 advantage.

Coming out of halftime, Fasman wasted no time taking control. Their press suffocated Farber’s ball handlers, leading to turnovers and easy transition points. Fasman went on a 10-0 run, quickly stretching the lead to 37-24, prompting a Farber timeout to regroup. However, Fasman continued to push the tempo and dominate the boards, building a commanding 51-35 lead by the midway point of the third quarter.

Just when it seemed the game was slipping away from Farber, Jake Schon provided a much-needed spark off the bench. Schon exploded for an 8-0 individual run, knocking down two three-pointers and turning defense into offense. Fasman’s lead was trimmed to 51-43 by the end of the third, and Farber had life. Fasman responded in the fourth with another defensive surge, going on a 9-0 run to regain control. With just under 90 seconds remaining, Fasman led 62-48, and Farber still clung to hopes of a comeback, but Amster quickly ended those hopes, draining a deep three-pointer to extend Fasman’s lead to 65-48. The dagger put the game out of reach, and Fasman comfortably closed out the contest for a 65-52 victory, securing their spot in the Tier II Quarterfinals.

Amster led Fasman with 23 points, delivering in crucial moments, while Schwartz added 12, providing a steady interior presence. For Farber, Gardin finished with 15 points, Lopatin contributed 13, and Singer added 12.

With the win, Fasman advances to the Tier II Quarterfinals, looking to continue their momentum. Meanwhile, Farber will regroup and shift focus to the Tier III bracket, aiming to bounce back and compete for a Tier III championship.
