Championship Game Preview: (1) SAR Sting Vs. (2) YULA Panthers
MacsLive Reporting Services (New York, NY) With the 2012 Sarachek crown on the line, the YULA Panthers will look to avenge last year’s championship game loss to the SAR Sting when the two teams meet in a rematch at 2 PM at the Max Stern Athletic Center. After the top seed SAR defeated rival MTA in a close game Sunday afternoon, YULA and Shalhevet locked horns in a riveting battle that was decided in overtime. Matthrew Reich’s three free throws with his team down by three points and just seconds remaining was one of the most dramatic moments in Sarachek history. YULA will look to come out running and get points from many different places. On defense they play a tight man to man, and will try to tame SAR’s balanced attack. Coach Dave Winik will look to Jack Gindi to lead his team, but with contributors JoJo Himmelman, Yisroel Solomon, Gavriel Stark, and Reich, one can always expect these YULA Panthers to be running on all cylinders. Coach Rafi Halpert’s Sting will look to run their Princeton style offense, forcing YULA’s defenders out of their comfort zone. After defeating the Panthers once this year in overtime, SAR should bring plenty of confidence into this game. Size could be the biggest factor in this game, with the Panthers holding a big advantage. The outcome of the game could turn on the play of Sting players Jonny Nulman and Adam Schriber and whether they can control YULA’s big men. This game will be broadcast live and in high defintion at MacsLive.com.
