Atlanta Lions Defeat Yeshiva Of Virginia MacsLive Reporting Services (New York, NY) It was a heartbreaking loss for Yeshiva of Virginia and their fans, as the Raiders put up a tremendous effort in a 48-45 loss against the Yeshiva Atlanta Lions in a thrilling Tier IV consolation game that closed Big Sunday. With only 10 seconds left in the game, YVA’s point guard Yoni Lewis hit his first three pointer to cut Atlanta’s five point lead to two. But Atlanta’s Ethan Solomon hit one of two free throws on the ensuing Raiders’ foul, and the three-point lead would prove enough as Virginia’s last gasp shot at the buzzer did not fall. The Atlanta Lions’ point guard Myles Ratner’s free throws were crucial in helping the Lions stem the Raiders’ third and fourth quarter charge. The Raiders seem inspired by coach Doug Lewis who used a travel call on Yoni Lewis to focus his team in the second half. The Raiders responded to the call with a renewed effort to cut into the Atlanta lions lead by feeding big man Shumel Glickman on the inside. He finished with eleven points and thirteen rebounds. Atlanta had raced out to an early lead that they would never relinquish behind the play of Yondi Kadosh and Myles Ratner in the first quarter. Kadosh, recipient of the All Tournament Team award in Memphis, scored 15 points in his last game with the Lions and contributed on the defensive end by limiting the damage of Glickman.
